Sardine Sentinel: The Evolution | Anthropomorphic Primitive Figure
Sardine Sentinel: The Evolution
This piece represents the second phase in the Sentinel conceptual series, marking the figure's precarious but determined evolution to a standing, anthropomorphic form. It is a work of Conceptual Figurative Sculpture that explores the awkward, often primal, journey of adaptation.
The Conceptual Narrative
Where the first Sentinel was an amphibian voyager, this figure has ascended. The upright stance, crude human feet, and smiling face suggest a fragile triumph over environment. The body is encased in a striking metallic blue patina—a kind of futuristic, armor-like shell—contrasting sharply with the rough, exposed feet and the orange body, emphasizing the tension between a complex future and a primitive foundation.
The row of red, convex lights/buttons along the torso are retained, hinting at a central power source or internal mechanism that fuels this unnatural evolutionary leap. This sculpture is an ironic tribute to the concept of Post-Humanism, capturing the moment a humble creature attempts to master a new world, one crude, bare foot at a time.
