The Morning Sentinel (Brutalist Rooster Study)
Concept and Inspiration "The Morning Sentinel" is a vibrant exploration of one of the most iconic forms in the animal kingdom: the rooster. This piece was born from a personal desire to capture the proud, structural essence of the animal through a lens of Modernist Geometry and Cubist color theory.
The Artistic Narrative Rather than a traditional biological study, this sculpture deconstructs the rooster into a series of bold, intersecting planes. The head is a solid, monolithic form that echoes the weight of Brutalist architecture, while the application of primary colors—red, yellow, and green—references the playfulness of Pop Art.
- The Crown: The iconic red comb is rendered with a heavy, glossy finish, serving as the sculpture’s primary focal point.
- The Geometry: The neck is divided into precise, color-blocked segments (black, yellow, and green), emphasising the "built" nature of the form.
- The Base: The figure sits upon a hand-sculpted, earth-toned pedestal with a weathered, primitive texture, grounding the vibrant character in the "Mr. Castle" signature style.
Style: Cubist Pop / Brutalist Animalia.
