The Silent Castaway
Concept: The Silent Castaway A deconstructive study of the psychological anchor. Inspired by the volleyball from the film Cast Away, this piece explores the transition of a mass-produced object into a sentient, sacred companion.
Execution: The sculpture utilises a dual-texture approach. The upper form retains the geometry of the volleyball but is subverted by jagged, mineral-like protrusions replacing the organic hair. The figure is perched atop a massive, Brutalist plinth featuring a high-relief, veined texture that suggests both geological age and biological skin.
Style: Cubist Pop / Brutalist Animalia.
